lifestyle family session at home // Northbrook, IL

This year has been a lot to handle. Amidst all the challenges I’m still meeting and photographing new people and families, and I’ve never been more grateful for this normalcy and consistent source of happiness and fulfillment. Despite the fact that doing photography with a mask on is awkward and not easy, as I try to evoke the type of emotion I’d love to see from kiddos, I’m making it work—and so are the kids! We’re all making it work. And whether we like it or not—this is our new normal, so I truly believe that finding joy amidst this struggle and capturing our cherished moments with family and loved ones is more important now more than ever. I’m honored to continue to be welcomed safely into my clients homes to do this. This little family and I made the most of our time and got some fantastic memories preserved.

lifestyle newborn session // Logan Square, Chicago

I got to visit a family I love to capture the birth of their new baby girl, Raven! This was my first “official” family session after Covid. For my photog friends, it was definitely an adjustment to wear a mask the entire time while staying creative, so if you’re feelin that right now, I’m with you—especially in hot weather, but despite the heat we had such a beautiful day for a shoot, and it felt great to get back to capturing memories for people in person rather than through a window. We made some amazing photos together. I couldn’t be happier for this family and their sweet babies.

#throughtheglassproject

I wanted to share some of the hilarious, tender, and incredible moments I’m capturing with Through the Glass Project. This has been one of the most meaningful side projects I’ve ever done. Some photographers have joined in and are tagging their work. I love how everyone’s shots are so different. Even between families—all through their windows, but nothing about each photo is stale. All these families bring their own unique energies, vibes and love. It’s been so fun doing this. I’ve raised money for The Greater Chicago Food Depository. See more about how I started this project here. Depending on how long everyone’s on lock down, which could be quite some time—until we get a vaccine—I may be adjusting and adapting to doing photo sessions this way till it’s over to benefit my own family as well. I’ll add to this post as I go. Huge thanks to Des Plaines and close surrounding families who’ve participated so far.

capturing sweet milestones // Chicago, IL

I think one of the things I love most about being a newborn photographer is coming back to capture the same babies with their families a year later. Yes the babies grow—so quickly it’s unreal—but also the parents! They grow in their confidence and understanding of their own capability, and witnessing that and playing a small role in that journey with them is such an incredible feeling.

golden fall family session // dundee, IL

The kind of fall family session and golden light that I find absolutely delicious! I’m so happy the weather cooperated for this session. 2019 has been really dodgy weather wise here in Chicago. We saw a lot of rain this spring that went halfway into the summer, so it’s been mostly in-home sessions for me, which I also can’t get enough of. But every once in a while it’s soul filling to be able to do a full family session in the sun.
