a little about me…

I’m Kate, a Lifestyle Family Photographer in the Chicago area. My husband and I are parents to two incredible twin boys. I got my start behind the camera in architectural and wedding photography and ultimately fell in love with the intimacy and joy of photographing families, from maternity to adulthood. In-home shoots, including backyards and gardens, are my favorite settings because I think people can be most authentic and playful in their own home, but I shoot outdoors a lot too.

I look most for the in-between moments, the tender looks that arise between photographic direction. If light allows, I use both digital and film cameras during sessions. I’m obsessed with the imperfect. I love motion blur, double exposures, juicy beautiful light, grain and capturing small, overlooked details that help tell the story of family and the home.

As a mom who struggled with postpartum anxiety (hello, keeping two newborns alive at once), I’m all about stress-free sessions and sincere care for new moms and their babies. I have a baby-led approach to newborn sessions—we do what they’re happy with, and I don’t use props. I capture the real.

Couple random tidbits—I traveled abroad on my own when I graduated college to the UK and through Europe. I LOVE flowers and photographing flowers. I’m a huge foodie and can be a bit picky about where I eat out—smh. I’m an advocate for social justice . If there’s a good TV series out, I’ve watched it. After dinner, my family usually goes for a nightly walk, bike ride or we dance to oldies in the kitchen. (See Spotify playlist “Jitterbug” to dance along with us.)

Ok, enough about me. If my work speaks to you, if my vibe speaks to you, or if you want more info, Let’s talk!
